The aim of Youthreach is to address the personal and social development needs of unemployed early school leavers aged between 15 and 20. Youthreach provides participants with opportunities for basic education, personal development, vocational training and work experience. The programme seeks to instil a pattern of lifelong learning and integrate participants into further education and training opportunities and the labour market. The programme also seeks to address the issue of social inclusion on a broader scale. It delivers qualifications typically at levels 3 and 4 on the National Framework of Qualifications.
As well as being included under Priority 2, Youthreach receives a special allocation under the Youth Employment Initiative.
